Connect-A-Dock - Creates Worlds First Modular Floating Golf Green
Every August, the city of Des Moines, IA plays host to a senior PGA golf tournament called "The Allianz Golf Tournament". The sponsor this year was Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and they decided to throw a first class party to kick off the event. It was decided that a "Hole in One" contest for one million dollars would generate a buzz. The question was, how would they create a floating golf green? After several hours of qualifying rounds, the four closest shooters were moved back to a distance of 135 yards to truly test their abilities. Darkness fell and the spotlights were on! One by one, the contestants carefully lined up their shots and adjusted for the increasingly strong wind. Finally, the fourth and final competitor was up. He quickly snapped off a quick shot that went up into the darkness and out of sight. The crowd was silent until the ball suddenly reappeared directly over the green. Screams and squeals were heard as the ball bounced twice and rested at a heart stopping 30 inches from the million dollar prize! The crowd erupted with applause and yells as the last competitor, almost a millionaire, walked off the tee.
